Grunge Magick

Hedge witch, folk witch, herb witch, crystal witch. Log into Instagram, Tumblr, wherever and you will see the many many witch tags being claimed, turned into user names 🫣, used as titles etc.

The reality is you don't Have to title yourself anything, it really has just become an algorithmic niche to find others with similar vibes, practices and interests. So I made up my own.

Grunge Magick (n.)

Gritty, imperfect, durable, worn, unapologetically messy

Inspired by the raw energy of the grunge music movement I found my deepest connection through the imperfect, worn, written, crossed out and re-written again and again practices of my folk roots. This is my own messy mishaps, my desire to create. It doesn't always make sense but at the end of the day... its mine.

It’s not about having everything figured out or polished; it’s about showing up, being real, and letting the Magick flow through whatever life hands me. The tools may be worn, the rituals might get messy, but it has got purpose. 

I am not using the same tools as my ancestors or saying the exact same prayers and incantations. I'm learning from them and creating with what is available, what makes sense. Now mind you this isn't blind altercation, I am taking time to learn, educate myself and understand. This is not knit picking, it is growth. It is adding to the layers and layers of Magick and tradition, weaving within. (PS. this means we are not 'borrowing' or altering closed practices to make it "mine" that is different and wont be tolerated here.)

I'm reconnecting with my whimsy, my practice, my traditions and finding what works and what I'm ready to let go of. I leave you with no promises for this space as I'm being honest with myself as a 30 something, full time psychic tarot reader, mom of three. (i.e unapologetically messy)
